Seven Wisconsin firms make Forbes' most-trusted list

Seven Wisconsin companies and another with a Madison subsidiary have been named to the 2009 Forbes magazine list of the nation's 100 most trustworthy companies that are publicly traded in the U.S.

They are: MGE Energy, Madison; Badger Meter, Milwaukee; Bemis, Neenah; Kohl's, Menomonee Falls; Marten Transport, Mondovi; Renaissance Learning, Wisconsin Rapids; and Weyco Group, Milwaukee.

Also on the list is Telephone and Data Systems, Chicago, whose subsidiary, TDS Telecommunications, is based in Madison.

Audit Integrity, an independent financial analytics company in Los Angeles, conducted the assessment for Forbes to find the firms with the "most transparent and conservative accounting practices and most prudent management," according to the Forbes.com article.
